“IN THE MIDDLE-SOMEWHAT ELEVATED”
As the play opens a month before Halloween, a married, bisexual couple, Martin, a lawyer, and his wife Georgie, a gallery owner, are in their home waiting for their lovers to arrive. Georgie has insisted they all get together to work out a monthly schedule that will finally be satisfactory to all, and won’t break any of their established rules that she feels are perhaps being broken. When Georgie’s lover Nicole, a high-powered businessperson, arrives, expensive gifts are given out and mind games are played until Martin’s lover Henry, a dancer and choreographer, comes in with news that begins to erode the fragile nature of their relationships. Pent-up hostilities and desperate pleas for love finally come to the surface as the couples battle to save their “utopian” relationships.
