Winston Tastes GoodWINSTON TASTES GOOD is a Southern drama that, like UNBROKEN CIRCLES, takes place in a small town in North Carolina. The play opens with the ghost of the family matriarch, Granny Barb who was a tobacco farmer, looking all over the family’s house for one last cigarette to smoke before her body is laid to rest. Her family has gathered for her funeral, and each member has a definite idea about what should happen to the last twenty-five acres of farmland they own. Granny Barb’s granddaughter, Vivian, desperately wants to continue living on the land so her son can start growing tobacco again and revive the family business. Vivian’s older sister, Roberta, along with her husband, wants to build expensive summer homes to sell to upscale customers, while their brother, Winston, wants to sell the property as quickly as he can to make the movie he’s always dreamed of making. As family communication quickly erodes, long-kept family secrets about the land wake the family up to the reality that their dreams may not come true.
